Bose's Offseason Blog, Entry No. 4

This spring and summer, former Nicholls State University basketball standout Anatoly Bose turns his attention to preparing for the 2011 NBA Draft.  The eighth ranked scorer in the nation last season, Bose will be checking in periodically to update Colonel fans on what he is doing to improve his chances at earning a career in professional basketball.  In his fourth edition, Bose looks forward to a shot at making the Australian Men's National Team this June.

Greetings Colonel Fans,

My time in Chicago is up... Next stop, Australia!

I am pretty excited about heading back home. I haven't been to Sydney in almost a whole year. It will be great to see all my family and friends. However, leisure is not the reason I'm heading back home. I will be attending a camp with the Australian National Team (Boomers) which I will explain in more depth later.

This past month in Chicago has been one of the most worthwhile times of my life regarding to basketball. I have improved immensely with my game, and now I feel ready to play at the next level. I would like to personally thank my attaché Brad for taking care of me off the court while I was here, and Ryan and Josh for taking care of all my on-court needs. This last month has not been a walk in the park; I've had some grueling training sessions that have no doubt helped me become stronger both physically and mentally.

I will be flying out of Los Angeles on Monday night, and will land in Sydney on Wednesday morning. I will have four days to recover from jet lag and get my body adjusted as best as I can before I fly across Australia to Perth for the Boomers camp. 16 players will participate in this 4 day camp. After the camp, 12 players will be chosen to play against the China national team in the "YouYi Games": one game in Perth and one game in Singapore.

The upcoming camp in Perth and the subsequent games against China is part of a long term project to have regular games between China and Australia. The YouYi Games (YouYi is "Friendship" in Chinese) has been promoted by RV Sport, a company managed by Australian Olympic Basketball player Andrew Vlahov. Andrew has been working closely with Basketball Australia to help promote the sport in Australia and the Asian region.

This is a fantastic opportunity for me to represent my Country as best as I can. I feel extremely excited and prepared to attend this camp. I will keep y'all posted on how my flight back home went, how I've prepared for this camp, how the camp went, and how we played against China.

Go Colonels!
