Nicholls is fifth in the team standings after day one at the SFA Crown Classic
SFA Crown Classic Day One Results
LUFKIN, Texas - The Nicholls State University men's golf team got quality scores from
Andri Bjornsson and
Florentino Molina Herran in the opening two rounds of the SFA Crown Classic on Monday, as the Colonels as a team are fifth with an overall score of 626.
After the first round the Colonels were sixth after shooting a 312, moving up to fifth after carding a 314 in the second, just two strokes behind ULM for fourth place entering tomorrow's final round.
Bjornsson began the day with 78 to sit in a tie for 21st place, regrouping in the second to finish with a score of 73 to move into a tie for ninth place with a two-round score of 151.
Molina rolled in the first 18 holes to finish the morning session with an even-par 72 in a tie for fourth place and one stroke from being in a tie for first with the individual leaders. The second round was a little tougher for the Argentinean, as he finished the second round with an 82 and is tied for 16th, but only three strokes behind Bjornsson with a two-round score of 154.
Marcus Fox improved by four strokes between the first and second rounds, finishing with a score of 160 on the day in a tie for 28th place. Fox began the first round with an 82 before finishing the second round with a 78.
Adrien Le Sech is in a tie for 38th place after finishing the day with a score of 166 (80-86), while
Tanner Manuel is 42nd after finishing with a score of 168 (87-81).
Nicholls will partner with the Warhawks and Texas-Pan American for Tuesday's final round beginning at 8:15 a.m., as the Colonels will tee off from holes 6-10. Full results of the competition will be available at geauxcolonels.com following the conclusion of the round.
