Nicholls’ Carruthers Named To LSWA All-Louisiana Team

THIBODAUX, La. – Nicholls State University women's cross country runner Tessni Carruthers was named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's All-Louisiana team it was announced last night, being one of just three Southland Conference athletes to make the team.

In only her second season as a Colonel, Carruthers exploded out of the gate when the season began and led the team to two team and individual meet titles over the course of the season, earning Southland Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week in back-to-back weeks with record setting performances earning a personal best time in the 5K and setting a new Nicholls record in the 6K at the LSU Invitational.

Over the course of the season, the British Columbia, Canada native went on to have six top-five finishes and capped the year by finishing fifth at the Southland Conference Championships in Beaumont to become the first Colonel runner to earn all-Southland honors since the 2009 season.

Carruthers joins McNeese State's Fionnuala Ross and Allison Crawford as the only Southland runners to make the LSWA list.
