HATTIESBURG, Miss.  – The Nicholls State University men's tennis picked up three wins in singles at the Southern Miss Invitational on Saturday before heavy rain caused the remainder of the tournament to be canceled.

Nico Mertens capped his perfect weekend, defeating Rob Lee (Lamar), 6-1, 6-3. Mertens went 4-0 in the invitational, winning three singles matches and once in doubles.

Also earning victories for the Colonels were  Jeoffrey Noblecourt and Sidharth Sivakumar, both in straight sets. Noblecourt took down Tommy Cundy (Troy), 6-2, 6-3, while Sivakumar defeated Steven McMullan (Lamar), 6-3, 6-1.

The Colonels will wrap up their fall slate in the Lamar Invitational next weekend.
