2013 ASU Red Wolves Intercollegiate Final Results

JONESBORO, Ark. –
Competing in some tough conditions on the final day of action, the Nicholls State University golf team closed out play at the ASU Red Wolves Intercollegiate with a final round of 303 to finish 16th as a team with a tournament score of 916, paced by Andri Bjornsson's 1-over-par 72 to end play tied for 31st individually.

After opening the tournament tied for ninth with a team score of 303 on Monday morning, the Colonels struggled that afternoon shooting a 313. However on Tuesday, all five Nicholls golfers had rounds under 80 in adverse playing weather to regroup with the team's second best score of the spring.

“We had some really tough conditions today, but the players fought through it and I believe it was overall our best round of the tournament,” Nicholls coach James Schilling said. “Hopefully we'll be able to take what we did today into the tournament next week.”

Bjornsson saved his best round for last, having about a solid of a round as you can get with three birdies and just four bogies to finish the tournament with a score of 223 (74-77-72) to tie for 31st place. Where Bjornsson really shined were on par 3 holes, where the junior was even with an average score of 3.00 along with teammate Marcus Fox.

Adrien Le Sech had his best tournament of the season so far, ending the event with a score of 226 (72-78-76) to tie for 45th, as it is just the second time this season he's finished an event with scores under 80 for the weekend. Le Sech had one birdie on the day, but was stellar on par 5 holes during the tournament, finishing in the top 20 among individuals with a score of 2-under par and stroke average of 4.78.

With consecutive rounds of 77, Fox ended the ASU Intercollegiate with a total score of 232 (78-77-77) to finish tied for 72nd. Fox had one birdie, coming on his final hole of the event on the par 3 15th, earning par on seven consecutive holes on the first nine holes of the course.

Florentino Molina Herran finished his final round with a 78 for a two-day total of 237 (76-83-78) and placed 95th overall. Herran had one birdie, earning par on 11 holes. Rounding out Nicholls on the afternoon was Daniel McConnachie who's 79 on Tuesday gave him a tournament score of 240 (80-81-79) to finish in a tie for 99th place. After a double bogey on his second hole, McConnachie shot par on the next eight.

The team will return to the links next week, participating in the ULM/Wallace Jones Invitational at the Southern Pines Golf Club in Calhoun, La.
