BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Seniors Courtney Crawford and Hannah Naquin and freshman Eleana Callejas moved into the Top 25 of the Southland Conference rankings at the Samford January Open inside the Birmingham CrossPlex Saturday.

"We had a great team effort for our first competition at the Birmingham CrossPlex; which included several personal best performances and current top-20 Southland Conference marks," Nicholls head coach Stefanie Slekis said. "I'm excited for our team to get in a big training block before competing at LSU in two weeks."

Crawford finished 11th in the long jump, leaping 16 feet, 8.5 inches to now rank 21st in the league. Naquin recorded a sixth-place finish in the women's mile, crossing the finish line at 5 minutes, 14.82 seconds, good for the fifth-best time in the Southland. Callejas also competed in the mile, finishing in a personal-best 5:37.44, which sits 20th in the conference.

The Colonels will have two weeks away from competition before competing at LSU's Bayou Bengal Invitational on Friday, Feb. 2.
