Hannah Naquin and freshman
Eleana Callejas received second- and third-place finishes, respectively, in the 800-meter run to highlight the Nicholls State University women's track and field team at the Bayou Bengal Friday inside Carl Maddox Fieldhouse.
Naquin crossed the finish line in 2 minutes, 25.02 seconds with Callejas following closely behind at 2:27.50. Other notables included an 8-second improvement for redshirt junior
Courtney Troxclair in the mile (5:57.52) and a seventh-place finish for sophomore
Maerys Joseph in the 400m (1:00.84).
The Colonels will compete in their last regular-season meet Friday at the Samford Open before the Southland Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 20. Nicholls will battle in the Birmingham CrossPlex for the final two weeks of the indoor season.
