NCAA Don't Bet On ItNCAA defines sports wagering as placing, accepting or soliciting a wager (on a staff member's or student-athlete's own behalf or on the behalf of others) of any type with any individual or organization on any intercollegiate, amateur or professional team or contest involving any NCAA sponsored sport. Examples of sports wagering include, but are not limited to, the use of a bookmaker or parlay card; Internet sports wagering; auctions in which bids are placed on teams, individuals or contests; and pools or fantasy leagues in which an entry fee is required and there is an opportunity to win a prize. Sports wagering of any kind is strictly prohibited.
Student-athletes should immediately report any offer to gamble on the outcome of an athletics competition, whether directly or indirectly, to the Athletic Director, Head Coach, Compliance Office, and/or Conference Office. Any individual seeking information or asking student-athletes to "arrange" the outcome of any athletics contest should be reported to the Compliance Office.
Any involvement in activities designed to influence the outcome of an intercollegiate contest or any solicitation or acceptance of a bet involving Nicholls State University will result in an automatic loss of eligibility.
Fantasy Sports. Fantasy sports are treated the same as other forms of gambling when a wager or the chance to win something is available. This includes daily fantasy sports sites/apps such as DraftKings and FanDuel. Daily fantasy sports now include student-athletes. Gambling on NCAA sports and/or student-athletes can seriously jeopardize your short-term and long-term eligibility at any NCAA institution.
