If a student-athlete is interested in transferring to another NCAA or NAIA institution, he/she must first provide that institution with permission to contact from the Nicholls Compliance Office per Bylaw 13.1.1.3. The student-athlete must receive a release from his/her head coach before the Compliance Office will provide another institution with permission to contact. NCAA Transfer GuideSouthland Conference Intra-Conference Transfer Policy:All applicable NCAA regulations shall apply to a student-athlete who transfers from one Conference member institution to another. If NCAA regulations require the student-athlete to complete one (1) full academic year of residence before being eligible to compete in a sport at the second institution, the student-athlete shall forfeit one (1) of his/her four (4) seasons of competition in that sport and be ineligible to receive athletically-related financial aid during the NCAA-imposed residency period. Effective for student-athletes enering on or after Janaury 1, 2003, transferring student-athletes in all sports shall: 1) be ineligible for competition at the institution to which they transfer during the first year in residence; 2) forfeit one (1) of his/her four (4) seasons of competition in his or her sport; and 3) be ineligible to receive athletically-related financial aid during the first year in residence. The Intra-Conference Transfer bylaw shall only apply to student-athletes who are receiving or have received athletics aid from a Southland Conference institution.
