THIBODAUX - The Nicholls State University football team will try to black out John L. Guidry Stadium in the 2011 season opener against Evangel on the night of Thursday, Sept. 1.  The Colonels are asking fans to wear black to the game, and blackout t-shirts are available for purchase at the official online store of Nicholls athletics, www.nichollsgear.com.

The Colonels will be hosting a blackout for the second consecutive season after winning their first blackout game in the 2010 season finale against Southeastern Louisiana last November.  The Colonels wrapped up the season with a thrilling 27-25 win over the Lions in the annual River Bell Classic game.  The victory gave the Colonels wins in all three of their rivalry games.
