THIBODAUX, La. - The Nicholls State University women's volleyball tournament, the Bayou Invitational, scheduled for this Friday and Saturday in Thibodaux has been cancelled due to the effects of Hurricane Isaac.

The team was set to host the two-day tournament against CSU Bakersfield, Grambling, Jackson State and ULM, but weather conditions over the course of the next several days would not have allowed safe travel for the teams involved.

The Colonels will play Grambling later on this season, while Nicholls will try and add a match against ULM at a later date yet to be determined.

Nicholls State University will remain closed and classes canceled through Thursday, Aug. 30, as a result of Hurricane Isaac. The campus remains in a Stage III Alert in accordance with the university's Hurricane Emergency Plan.
