THIBODAUX, La. --  Monday afternoon, head coach Stefanie Slekis and Nicholls State University cross country program announced the official schedule surrounding the upcoming 3rd Annual Nicholls XC Invitational/Pre-Conference Meet, slating the preeminent collegiate/high school dual event for Saturday, Oct. 2 at the recently upgraded Nicholls Farm in Thibodaux, La.

"We are very excited after not being able to host a home cross country meet for the 2020 cross country season to host two events this fall," Slekis said. "First we will host our 3rd Annual Nicholls XC Invitational on Saturday October 2nd, welcoming university teams, high school teams and community participants in an open race. This home meet will also serve as the Pre-Southland Conference Invitational for teams to come and see the championship courses before we host the league championships on Friday, October 29th.

"The Nicholls XC Invitational 5k course and men's university 4 Mile course share the same start and finish line as the 6k & 8k Championship courses that will be contested on Friday, October 29th, allowing the Southland Conference teams that attend a great opportunity to run a large portion of the courses they will race four weeks later for the conference title."

The Nicholls XC Invitational is looking to expand both the high school and collegiate fields, and any interested coaches should contact Stefanie Slekis at stefanie.slekis@nicholls.edu. Currently, the following teams are slated to compete:
