Jenny Parsons

Jenny Parsons enters her ninth season with Nicholls and seventh as head coach. At the helm, Parsons has guided the Colonels to postseason appearances in four out of the last five seasons which includes making the Southland Conference Championship in 2008.

Parsons came to Nicholls after serving as the assistant coach and pitching coach at East Carolina University for seven years. While at ECU, Parsons' 2000 pitching staff set a school record for strikeouts with 421 and wins with 60. In the Big South in 1998, the Pirate hurlers were first in shutouts (20) and innings pitched (411). Each one of Parsons' seven pitching staffs from the 1994 to the 2000 season were in the top seven in school history for staff wins.

During her tenure at Nicholls, Parsons has steadily bolstered the Colonel pitching staff. In 2008, the Nicholls staff led the Southland Conference with a .235 opponent batting average and in 2009, the Colonels ranked second in ERA (1.96) and batting average (.201). Last season, the Nicholls hurlers held their opponents to a .248 clip, which was third best in the conference.

Additionally, Parsons had the privilege to instruct nine All-Southland Conference selections at pitcher, including Canadian Olympian Dione Meier. Meier, a 2004 graduate, established numerous career marks in categories such as strikeouts in a single game and season.

A former standout pitcher herself and a 1994 graduate of East Carolina in Leisure System Studies, Parsons played four seasons for the Lady Pirates and holds nearly all of ECU's individual pitching including games pitched (157), wins (102), strikeouts (402) and shutouts (34). She is second in ERA (1.52).

As a senior, Parsons led the 1993 Pirate team to the ECAC Tournament and was named to the ECAC All-Star Team. During her final season, Parsons also finished second in the NCAA in victories (32). As a junior in 1992, Parsons led the nation in wins with 38. Two years after receiving her undergraduate degree, Parsons earned her Master's Degree in Athletic Administration from East Carolina in 1996.

Parsons, the Glen Burnie, Maryland native, is 39-years old and resides in Thibodaux, La.
