SHREVEPORT, La. -
Traveling to Shreveport to face Centenary College would be the last non-conference test for the Colonels soccer team before Texas-San Antonio would roll into town for the start of the Southland schedule, and the team looked to get its first win in over a month.
However, a two goal night by Brittany O' Neal, along with two other Lady goals led to the eventual 4-1 Centenary victory dropping the Colonels to 1-9-1 on the year, while the Ladies improve to 4-6.
For the eighth time this season, Nicholls allowed a team to gain 20 or more shots in a game, as the Ladies outshot the Colonels 21-8 in the two periods. Senior Heather Gamble would lead Nicholls in shots with three, and found the back of the net for the only Nicholls goal of the game.
O' Neal would account for most of the Centenary points, as her six shots, four on goal, led all players along with her two goals and two assists on goals from Lauren Cheaney and Stefani Robbs. Cheaney would have the only other assist for the Ladies.
In goal, freshman Molly Mersereau only had four saves in the game although allowing four goals, while Centenary would evenly split two goalies with only one goal allowed and two saves.
The Colonels season long losing streak has increased to eight games, with the last win coming against Southern early in September. Nicholls will next take on Texas-San Antonio in the beginning of a two game conference home stand with the Roadrunners on Friday and Texas State on Sunday.
