COLONELS DROP MATCHES TO LAMAR, MCNEESE

Lake Charles, La. - The Nicholls State volleyball team finished a rough weekend falling to the McNeese State Cowgirls in three straight sets today, dropping the team to 8-15 overall and 2-5 in Southland play. The day before, the team lost to undefeated Lamar in another three set loss, the second time Lamar swept three straight form the Colonels this season.

McNeese (10-11,4-3) only had seven errors in the entire contest on 100 attmepts while the Colonels had 24 errors with only 35 kills. Chelsea Dockrey and Aaliyah Muhammad both had eight kills for the Colonels, while Alyson Jones had 12 for the Cowgirls in the win.

In the game against the Cardinals (15-7, 6-0), Lamar plwyed down in the second set needing an extra point to beat the Colonels, but Nicholls only hit in positive figures in the first set aiding in the Cardinal win. Ivanina Ivanova, Halverson and Muhammad combined for fifteen kills for the Colonels, while Cardinal hitter Molli Abel had 11 by herself to pace Lamar.

The Colonels will be back in action again next weekend at home against Stephen F. Austin on Friday, and Sam Houston State on Saturday.
