LADYJACKS BEAT COLONELS IN THREE

THIBODAUX, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks proved they were the team to beat in the Southland improving to a perfect 8-0 record in conference with a three-set (30-24, 30-14, 30-16) victory Friday night in Thibodaux, while the Colonels have lost five straight since starting 2-1 in conference play.

SFA only had 13 errors in the match and hit over .250 as a team while the Colonels had one less error than kill, finishing with 27 kills and 26 errors for a .009 hitting percentage.

Aaliyah Muhammad and Kindra Halverson each had six kills for the Colonels, while Lauren Railey had 11 by herself for the Ladyjacks followed by Traci Rhode with nine. J.J. Jones just missed having another double-double game, finishing with eight kills and 22 assists.

Nicholls kept pace with SFA in the first set, putting the Ladyjacks off balance for the first ten points, but after that initial set, SFA was able to return the favor to the Colonels in the final two.

Nicholls will play again tomorrow afternoon against Sam Houston State at 2 p.m.
