NICHOLLS EARNS TOP 10 FINISH

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Nicholls golf team shot 12-over par in Tuesday's final round to move up one spot and finish ninth at the 2007 UT-Arlington Fall Classic.

The two-day tournament was held Monday and Tuesday at Arlington's Waterchase Golf Club. Nicholls shot 299-294-300/893 on the 7,304 yard, par 72 course to finish 29-over par in its third tournament of the season.

In its first three tournaments of the fall season, Nicholls has one six place finish, at the Troy Invitational, a third place finish at the McNeese State Moe O'Brien, and now a ninth place finish.

Freshman Parham Booker was Nicholls' top finisher upon competing in only his third Division I tournament. The Pace, Fla., native notched a 2-over par 74 on the day, which was the low score of the final round for the Colonels. Booker completed the tournament at 1-over par, which set him tied at 11th among individuals.

Marty Reed finished T-38th and seven shots back from his Colonel teammate, shooting 76-77-74/224. Also for Nicholls, James Terrebonne completed the tournament T-42nd at 9-over (76-75-74/225). Jacob Lejeune finished T-52nd at 11-over (77-72-78/227) and Ebenhaezer Van der Walt rounded out the Colonels at 75th at 19-over (77-78-80/235).

Arkansas State's Lloyd du Perez shot 2-under in the final round to take the individual win (69-71-70/210). Tournament host Texas-Arlington dominated on their home course and was crowned the team champion in the field of 15. Texas-Arlington finished 13-under par for the tournament, shooting 282-275-294/851 to win by 22 against Central Oklahoma (873). At third was UMKC (874), followed by Southern Illinois (880), Arkansas State (882), Central Arkansas (886), Sam Houston State (887), Cal Poly (888), Nicholls (893), Texas State (897), Oral Roberts (898), Stephen F. Austin (898), Missouri State (915), Centenary College (922) and McNeese State (936).

After playing three tournaments in four weeks, Nicholls will take a month off before closing out the fall season on Nov. 5-6 at the Battle of the Bend/Louisiana-Lafayette Invite in Many, La., held at Cypress Bend Golf Club.
