Box Score
Corpus Christi, Texas. -
The Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi didn't look like a team sitting at 1-9 in conference against the Nicholls State volleyball team Friday night, cruising to a three-set victory and improving the team's record to 2-9 in conference and 5-19 overall, dropping Nicholls to 8-19 and 2-9.
The Colonels only hit .050 as a team, while the Islanders hit .268 amassing 45 kills and only 15 errors. Nicholls only had five more kills than errors with 26 and 21.
The win over the Colonels gives TAMUCC their first win in seven games with the last win coming against Sam Houston State. The Colonels have yet to win a conference game on the road this season and is currently riding a season-long eight game losing streak.
The Colonels only had a sizeable lead once in the match in the second set, but as was the case in all three sets, the Islanders would get on a roll and overtook Nicholls.
Kasey McBrearty hit a game-best .375 with 15 kills and only 3 errors leading all players for the Islanders, while Chelsea Dockrey and Rachel Spreen led the Colonels with six.
Nicholls will next take on the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. Stats will be available through UTSA's website.
