CORPUS CHRISTI, Tex. - The Colonels ran hard at the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships this past weekend as the women placed higher than all other Louisiana conference schools.

The men were led by true freshman Brandon Kotzur who finished 55 out of 82 runners with a time of 27:56, but the Colonels finished last as a squad in the meet.

"I am very proud of my team. We matured a lot, and definitely got better as the season went a long," said head coach Scott Williamson.

The women placed ninth as team in the 6k run and were lead by senior Eunice Jepkogei who finished 39 with a time of 23:24. Sophomore Michaela Guidry was the next Lady Colonel to cross the finish line at 41 with a time of 23:29. Junior Charlotte Everhardt soon followed at 53 with a time of 24:09, and sophomore Marion Chebet clocked out at 65 with a time of 25:05. Freshman Kadi Whisnant rounded out the Lady Colonels with a 25:47 posting that was good enough to place 67.

True freshmen Joseph Fryou finished 73rd with a time of 29:37, and was followed by true freshman Logan Milano in 76th with a time of 30:08.
