THIBODAUX, La. - Four goals by two Bobcat players was enough to propel Texas State to it's first win in conference with a 4-0 win over Nicholls Sunday afternoon in Thibodaux.

The Colonels gave up three of the first four goals in the first period, giving up the last early in the second period, and was only able to get off three shots in the game in the second period. "We showed how good we can be in the second period, but it's hard to come back when you give up three goals in the first period," head coach Cindy Piper said.

The Bobcats started the barrage early when Brittney Curry would score the first goal of the game in the 18th minute. Ten minutes later, Lindsay Tippit would take a pass from Andrea Seledee and found the back of the net putting Texas State up 2-0.

Tippit would score again in the 35th minute on her own to close out the first period, with Curry closing out the Bobcat scoring early in the second period. The Colonels would play better on defense in the second, the 24 shots by the Bobcats in the game would keep Nicholls from scoring in both halves.

"Hopefully we can play like we did towards the end of the game and pull out some contests later on in the schedule," Piper said.

Nicholls will hit the road for the next conference tilt against Central Arkansas in Conway on Friday.
