On Senior Night, the Nicholls State volleyball team looked to send their three seniors with a win in Friday nights contest against the Texas State Bobcats. However, only winning one set would not be enough to propel the Colonels to victory as the Bobcats would get the 3-1 victory.
Nicholls (8-21, 2-11) took the second set after falling by five points in the first, but coming from the break Texas State (15-10, 8-5) would regain its momentum and take the final two sets.
Three players would finish with double digit kills for the Colonels, but a much more combined effort from several Bobcat players was more than enough for the victory. Both teams would finish with 60 kills in the match, but 13 errors as opposed to 31 by Nicholls would also play a factor.
The Colonels hit close to .200 for the first time in previous matches, but a combined .338 by the Bobcats outpaced the Colonels. Jessica Weynaud lead all players with 17 kills followed by Lawrencia Brown's 13, while Rachel Spreen led Nicholls with 15. Amy Whitehead finished the game with 51 assists.
The Colonels will wrap up the 2007 home season against Texas-Arlington tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. in Stopher Gym
