THIBODAUX, La. - The reigning Southland Conference Champion Nicholls Colonels are gearing up to defend their title in 2006 and season tickets are on sale now.

Join the defending Southland Conference Champion Colonels this fall at John L. Guidry Stadium for six exciting home games! After going a perfect 4-0 last season in front of its home crowd, including a win over then No. 5-ranked Texas State, the Colonels look to build on their success this year after advancing to the NCAA Division I-AA Playoffs.

The action gets underway on Aug. 31 when the Colonels play host to Southern Arkansas and continues on Sept. 23 against South Dakota State. The first conference game is set for Oct. 7, as the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana pay a visit for Homecoming. Following a week on the road, Nicholls will entertain Northwestern State on Oct. 21. Family Day is scheduled for Oct. 28 against Assumption College and the Colonels will close out their home schedule on Nov. 11 against Stephen F. Austin for Senior Day.

Season tickets start as low as $60 and are a great family value. Box seats, reserved chair-back seating and press box seats in the Colonels Quarters are also available, as well as corporate and group packages.

Nicholls launched an ad campaign this week touting season tickets sales through regional cable television outlets, newspapers and Web sites. Gray, La.-based Louisiana Connection Network, donated the production time and equipment, and area cable providers Charter Media in Thibodaux and south Terrebonne Parish, KWBJ-TV in Morgan City, and LOVECOMM Advertising Sales in Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes, along with broadcast station HTV, will air the 30-second commercial entitled "Champion."
