NATIONALLY RANKED SUN DEVILS DEFEAT LADY COLONELS, 91-46

TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 11 Arizona State Sun Devils handed the Nicholls Lady Colonels their second defeat in two nights, topping the Lady Colonels, 91-46, Wednesday night at Ned Wulk Court in Tempe.

Jamie Octave led Nicholls (0-2) with 16 points, five rebounds and three steals. Dominique Washington chipped in 14 points and seven boards.

Arizona State's Kirsten Thompson recorded a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Aubree Johnson added 16 points.

The Sun Devils shot 58 percent from the field to the Lady Colonels' 29 percent. Arizona State out rebounded Nicholls 53-22.

Arizona State opened the game by jumping out to a quick 20-8 lead with 12:46 remaining in the first half. However, after a Claire Barry free throw cut the lead to 10 points with 11:11 showing on the clock, the Sun Devils went on a 27-7 run to end the half and head into the locker room with a 48-18 lead.

3:50 into the second half, Arizona State extended their lead to 58-20. Nicholls would not get any closer than 29 points the rest of the night, as the No. 11 Sun Devils went on to take the 91-46 victory.

The Lady Colonels return to Louisiana to take on Centenary, Saturday afternoon in Shreveport. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
