LAFAYETTE, La. -
Nicholls women's cross country won their first ever meet in school history on Friday with a dominating performance at the Ragin Cajun Invite hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette. The men also impressed in their season debut with three of their four runners placing in the top 15.
"I am very pleased with my teams' performance, and very proud of them with the way they competed," said head cross country coach Scott Williamson. "We need to build on this success as we embark on the rest of our season."
Junior Charlotte Everhardt took home the invites top honor as she placed first for the women in the 5k race with a time of 20:17.04, and fellow teammate sophomore Michaela Guidry nabbed second place with a time of 20:25.71. Also placing in the top 10 was senior Eunice Jepkogei at seven, redshirt freshman Kadi Whisnant followed at eight, and sophomore Marion Chebet finished in tenth.
The men only competed with four due to injuries, but three of them placed in the top 15 in the four mile run which included true freshman Brandon Kotzur's second place finish with a time of 22:58.99. Kotzur was the invite's top male collegian. Other true freshmen making strides in the invite were Brandon Loupe who finished seventh and Logan Milano who chalked up the 15th spot in the tournament.
