Texas-San Antonio defeated Nicholls 5-0 Friday night at the UTSA Sports Complext, dropping the Colonels to 2-10 (0-3 SLC) on the season.
The Colonels framed two shots on goal on the night as sophomore Kaity Mattsson (Bracebridge, Ontario/Bracebridge & Muskoka Lakes Secondary) and freshman Samantha Etherington (Newcastle, England/Gateshead Women's) each lined shots between the posts.
"Tonight was a frustrating night," said head coach Cindy Piper. "We just didn't come out to play. This team needs to realize that nothing is handed out at this level. We have to go in and take a win - demand a win We must earn a victory by playing as one unit."
Freshman Lana Ashford (Baton Rouge, La./Tara) got the start in goal for Nicholls, making 10 saves and allowing all five Roadrunner goals, while classmate Sarah Damen (Houma, La./Terrebonne) saw 45 minutes between the posts and did not face a shot on goal.
Four different Roadrunners (5-8, 2-1 SLC) scored on the night, including Allison Dillon, who put two shots in the back of the net.
Nicholls returns to action Sunday, facing Texas State in Southland Conference action at 1 p.m.
