SAN MARCOS, Texas - Texas State scored five first-half goals en route to a 7-0 win over Nicholls Sunday afternoon in Southland Conference soccer action.

Nicholls drops to 2-11 (0-4 SLC), while Texas State moves to 7-3-3 (3-0-1 SLC).

Freshman Alana DeHart (Houma, La./Vandebilt Catholic) and junior Tara Walsh (Keithville, La./Caddo Magnet) each framed shots between the posts for the Colonels, but the Bobcat keepers managed to keep the clean sheet.

Texas State's Britney Curry scored twice on the day for the Bobcats and also handed out an assist.

For Nicholls, freshmen Sarah Damen (Houma, La./Terrebonne) and Lana Ashford (Baton Rouge, La./Tara) split time in goal. Damen, who started and played the entire first half, allowed five Bobcat goals and made two saves, while Ashford made seven saves and allowed two goals through the second half.

The Colonels will return to action next weekend, hosting Central Arkansas (Oct. 17) and Northwestern State (Oct. 19) at the Colonel Soccer Complex.
