Central Arkansas swept Nicholls 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-17) Saturday afternoon in Southland Conference volleyball action.
Nicholls (7-15, 4-8) was led by freshman Rachel Yezak (Houston, Texas/Klein), who recorded nine kills and six digs.
Junior Amy Whitehead (San Antonio, Texas/Douglas MacArthur) tallied 21 assists on the day, while freshman Danielle Daigle (Napoleonville, La./Assumption) posted a team-leading seven digs.
Central Arkansas (16-7, 8-4 SLC) hit .370 as a team, led by Chloe Smith's 12 kills and .571 hitting percentage.
Nicholls never led through the first set and eventually took a 15-14 lead in game number two, before a 5-0 Central Arkansas run put the Bears ahead for good.
The Colonels attempted to play catch-up through the third set, but timely runs by the Bears were too much to overcome as UCA rolled to the 3-0 sweep.
Senior Mallory McInnis (Meraux, La./Chalmette) and junior Rachel Spreen (Houston, Texas/Bellaire) each posted seven kills for Nicholls.
The Colonels will continue with its road swing, traveling to Texas-San Antonio on Friday, Nov. 7 for a 7 p.m. match.
