Nicholls fought back in the second half, but fell short against Jackson State, 82-44, in the Lee E. Williams Athletic Center on Friday night.
The Colonels (0-9) out-rebounded the Lady Tigers (3-6) in the contest 44-to-42, and it marked the first time this season that Nicholls out rebounded an opponent.
Leading Nicholls in scoring was Dominique Washington with 12 points, and standing out on the boards with a team-high nine rebounds was true freshman Jasmine Hoskins. Hoskins finished with six points.
The Lady Tigers were led by Danielle Cooper with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Following her across the decade mark was Beatrice Banks with 13 points off the bench.
Leading the Colonels off the bench was true freshman Nadia Cox and Portia Washington, each with four points. Cox added three steals to her stat sheet, two shy of her career high established versus Alcorn State.
The Colonels will be back in action on Monday December 22 against New Orleans (4-5, 0-1 SBC) in Stopher Gym. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
