THIBODAUX, La. - The New Orleans Privateers scored 20 runs on 22 hits Wednesday night to claim a 20-1 victory over the Colonels at Ray E. Didier Field. With the loss, Nicholls falls to 0-5 on the season, while the Privateers even their record at 2-2.

The Colonels managed just five hits and struck out 14 times through nine innings of play as UNO pitcher Bryan Cryer took the win. Cryer improves to 1-0 on the season, while Colonel starter Jacob Sullivan falls to 0-1.

"I really feel bad for our guys," said Colonel mentor Chip Durham. "This is a great group of kids, we're just not playing baseball up to their potential."

UNO scored twelve runs through the first three innings, putting six on the board in the top of the first on six hits. Joey Butler and Josh Vander Hey each doubled for the Privateers in the inning, as the first six UNO batters reached base.

On a positive note for the Colonels - Kulbeth extended his hitting streak to four when he reached on an infield single in the sixth inning.

Prior to Kulbeth's at bat, Josh Swenson doubled to left center and was brought around to score on Zac Bone's single up the middle.

The only other offensive production for the Colonels came on a second-inning single by Anthony Wray and an infield single by Patrick Thompson in the bottom of the ninth.

"There is talent on this team," added Durham. "We're just not getting it done. Our coaching staff has talked and motivated, trying to get these guys going and the bottom line is that these guys have to come out and get this stuff done themselves. They've got to take some initiative and do the things that it takes to win a ball game. They're prepared. They've practiced. They're coached. They just aren't coming out and showing that."

For the Privateers, second baseman Johnny Giavotella went 3-for-4 at the plate, while designated hitter Alan Harris was a perfect 3-for-3 on the night, recording two singles and a double.

The Colonels continue with game two of a four-game homestand when they host Murray State for a three-game weekend series. Friday night's first pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. Fans can follow the game via live stats by visiting www.GeauxColonels.com and can listen to the action live on the internet at www.ThibodauxOnLine.com.
