PLUMMER'S 25 NOT ENOUGH AS LAMAR ROLLS OVER LADY COLONELS

BEAUMONT, Texas - Katherine Plummer poured in a game-high 25 points, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Cardinals ran past the Lady Colonels 80-55 Thursday night at the Montagne Center.

Nicholls (5-14, 3-5) held a 28-25 lead with just under six minutes left in the first half and went to the locker room down by just three - 39-36. But the Lady Colonels came out flat in the second frame, scoring just 19 total second-half points to Lamar's 41.

Plummer was a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe, responsible for more than 2/3 of Nicholls' free throws. The Lady Colonels shot well from the free throw line again, sinking 14-of-19 for 73.7%.

Post player Funaki Kefu tallied a double-double for the Lady Colonels, neting 13 points and grabbing 12 boards on the night. Kefu added two blocks on the defensive end.

But the Lady Cardinals recorded seven team blocks, led by four from Tamara Abalde who also led Lamar in scoring with 23 points.

Lamar had two other players reach double digits in scoring - Trashanna Smith (16) and Nikki Williams (11).

Plummer added five assists, seven rebounds and six steals for the Lady Colonels. The 5-4 guard went 7-of-20 from the floor.

The Lady Colonels return to Stopher Gym Saturday afternoon for a 2 p.m. tip-off with McNeese State.
