McNeese State held the Lady Colonels to just 13.6% shooting from three-point range as the Cowgirls staked a 67-51 victory Saturday afternoon in Stopher Gym.
The Cowgirls had two players reach 20+ points - Shante' Perry (26) and Courtnee' Hollins (23) - and were perfect (18-of-18) from the line in the contest.
Nicholls was 3-of-22 from beyond the arc, and shot just 35.0% overall. Katherine Plummer, the Lady Colonels' leading scorer, was held to 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. Plummer dished out seven assists in the game.
McNeese poured in three treys, two from Perry and managed 46.9% shooting from the floor.
The Lady Colonels were led by Tiffany Lewis' 12 points as she sank 5-of-10 from the floor and grabbed two steals.
The Cowgirls held a 37-27 lead heading into halftime and Nicholls managed to keep the deficit at 10 until, with just over two minutes remaining, McNeese used a 8-0 run at the free-throw line to pull ahead by more than 15.
Plagued by injury, the Lady Colonels used just seven players in the contest and saw 11 bench points from Maggie Green and Dominique Washington, while the Cowgirls' only scorering came from their five starters.
On the boards, McNeese pulled down 39 rebounds to Nicholls' 28, led by Reeshimah Davis and Brittany Boone who each had eight. Washington led the Lady Colonels with six, followed by Plummer's five.
Nicholls begins nearly a month-long road trip next week, traveling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a Valentine's Day match-up with the Islanders.
