WOMEN'S TENNIS DROPS 4-3 DECISION AT TEXAS-SAN ANTONIO

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Lady Colonel tennis team dropped a 4-3 Southland Conference decision Saturday at Texas-San Antonio. Nicholls falls to 5-1 (0-1 SLC) on the season, while UTSA snaps a two-match losing streak and improves to 3-5 (1-0 SLC).

The Roadrunners captured the doubles point, taking the Nos. 1 and 2 matches. At No. 1, Sanja Stanojcic/Anne-Claire Murier fell 8-4 to Caroline Dedering/Karen Scida, while Florina Nosca/Melissa Harrison lost 8-4 in the No. 2 match to Monika Drabkova/Tanya Hasking.

In No. 3 doubles, Sumana Kalyanasundram/Natalia Zomora won 8-7 with a 7-5 tiebreaker set over Nathalie Wallin/Holly Phillips.

The two squads split the singles matches, with Nicholls picking up wins at the Nos. 2, 3 and 5 spots.

Murier defeated Walling 7-5, 6-7, 10-8 at No. 2, with Zomora sweeping the No. 3 match 6-0, 6-0 from Drabkova. At No. 5, Stanojcic won 7-5, 6-3 over Phillips.

Nosca dropped the No. 1 singles slot 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 to Scida, and Harrison fell 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 4 hole to Dedering. Kalyanasundram lost the No. 6 match 6-4, 6-4 to Eva Silvester.
