GADSDEN, Alabama - 
The Nicholls men's golf team fired a final-round 315 on Tuesday to finish in 12th place at the Grub Mart-Oil Intercollegiate at the par 72, 7,673 yard Silver Lakes Golf Course. The Colonels finished the 54-hole two-day event with a 945 team score.
On the final day of action, Nicholls was led by freshman Jacob Lejeune who shot a 77 on Tuesday. The Sulpher, La., native finished the tournament with a 235 and tied for 42nd. Sophomore Ebenhaezer Van der Walt, who also fired a final round of 77, finished the in 48th place by posting a 238. Junior James Terrebonne tied for 51st after a three-day total of 240 while junior Marty Reed tied for 54th with a 242. Freshman Parham Booker, who led the Colonels after round one, fell to 57th after posting an 86 on Tuesday to finish with a 244.
Tournament host Jacksonville State carded a 305 in the final round to claim the team title by three strokes over Murray State (889) and 13 strokes over Southern Mississippi, who took home third place honors. Jacksonville State's Gonzalo Berlin shot a 1-under 71, on Tuesday, to finish at an even par 216 to claim the individual crown by five strokes.
The Colonels will continue their spring season next weekend as they travel to Springfield, La., to compete in the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate on March 24-25, held at Carter Plantation and hosted by Southeastern Louisiana.
