Box Score

PINEVILLE, La. - Nicholls used a four-run fourth inning to run its way to an 8-5 victory over Grambling Tuesday night in a neutral-site game at Allgood Field.

Justin Breaux claimed the 'W' for Nicholls, improving to 1-2 on the season. Breaux allowed just four hits and one run, though it was unearned, through five innings of work. He walked three and fanned two Tiger batters.

Dale Dickerson picked up his fifth save of the season, shutting down Grambling in the ninth inning.

Adrian Turner falls to 1-2 for the Tigers, giving up six runs (three earned) on six hits.

The Colonels (5-16) had three players record multi-hit games, including freshman Jordy Toups who drove in two RBI as he went 2-for-2 on the night.

In the fourth, holding a 2-1 lead, Nicholls scored a run on an RBI basehit by Toups and three more when a Walter Jones single was misplayed by the Tigers, emptying the bases.

Grambling answered with a four-spot in the top half of the seventh, but the Colonels added insurance runs on a Patrick Thompson pinch-hit double and hits from T.J. Menerey and Brett Cook in the previous inning to secure the lead.

Brandt Boudreaux, who has successfully recorded a hit in 15 of his last 16 games, went 2-for-5 on the night, while Menerey was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

The Colonels will face Loyola (N.O.) Wednesday at Didier Field before traveling to Corpus Christi, Texas this weekend for an SLC series with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
