THIBODAUX, La. - A hard-fought first half and a career-high 32 points from Katherine Plummer weren't enough to lift the Lady Colonels to victory on Senior Night Thursday evening in Stopher Gym as Lamar claimed a 72-63 victory over Nicholls.

Plummer, whose senior season has been littered with several 30-point games, poured in a career-high 32 on 12-of-23 shooting, including nine points from beyond the arc. The 5-4 guard netted 24 first-half points and sank 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.

The Lady Cardinals used 60% three-point shooting (6-of-10), led by Nikki Williams' three treys, to overpower Nicholls. Williams was Lamar's second-leading scorer in the contest.

Tamara Abalde poured in 21 for the Lady Cardinals, while Brittney Williams also reached double digits with 13 points.

The Lady Colonels held their own with Lamar through the first half as the two squads exchanged leads nine times, but a lay-up by Lamar with just under six minutes remaining in the first frame gave the Lady Cardinals a lead they would not relinquish.

Nicholls shot 53.6% from the floor in the first half, but defensive adjustments by Lamar in the second stanza held the Lady Colonels to 25.8%.

Funaki Kefu pulled down a team-high eight boards for Nicholls, followed by Plummer, who had six.

Tiffany Jones was the Lady Colonels' assist leader, dishing out three in the game. Jones and Plummer each had one steal for Nicholls.

Along with Plummer, the Lady Colonels honored senior Kelli Johnson, who suffered a career-ending knee injury early in the season. Johnson serves as the 2007-08 team captain.

Nicholls will wrap up the 2007-08 campaign Saturday, traveling to McNeese State to face the Cowgirls in a 4 p.m. tip-off.
