Box Score

THIBODAUX, La. - The Colonels slowly started to climb out of their slump at the plate today as they defeated Central Arkansas 5-0 in the first game and 3-0 in the second.

Besides finding a rhythm batting, seniors Jessica Barksdale and Krystalin Ensminger both threw complete game shutouts. Barksdale got the victory in the first game to improve to 1-4 on the season as she only allowed two hits while fanning 10. Ensminger also had a two-hitter shutout to go along with six strikeouts. The two seniors each only had 22 at bats against them.

Providing the fire power and the run support in the first game was senior Amy Thibodeaux who hit two-homeruns as she went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Thibodeaux now stands with a SLC best nine homeruns for the season. Her first homerun came in the bottom of the third while her second came in the sixth.

Also getting it done with the stick was junior Danielle Clayton who put together one of her better outings in 2008 with a 2-for-3 performance and two runs scored.

Accounting for one hit in the first game was senior Kat Harrell, junior Kodi Butler, sophomore Audrey Wood and true freshman Whitney Roan. Harrell was also honored before the first pitch for recording her 200th career hit against LSU earlier in the week.

The second contest also ended in Nicholls' favor as they won 3-0. Leading the Colonels at the plate was Harrell as she finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Having a hit in the game was Clayton, Wood, and senior Rachel Pugh.

The Colonels and Bears will close out the series with a Noon start tomorrow. Live stats will be available on the internet at www.geauxcolonels.com by accessing the GameTracker link.
