THIBODAUX, La. - The Lady Colonel tennis squad claimed an impressive 5-2 victory over SLC foe Stephen F. Austin Saturday morning at the Nicholls Tennis Courts.

With the victory, the Lady Colonels improve to 5-2 (2-2 SLC).

In the women's match, Nicholls swept the doubles point to take an early 1-0 advantage. Florina Nosca/Melissa Harrison defeated Gaby Cordera/Tanya Smolinakova 8-0 at No. 1. In the No. 2 match, Anne-Claire Murier/Sanja Stanojcic won 8-4 over Roxy Enica/Mary Harrison. At No. 3, Natalia Zomora/Sumana Kalyanasundram took an 8-4 victory over Andi Enica/Jamie Williams.

The Lady Colonels claimed four-of-six singles victories on the day.

Nosca won 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 over R. Enica and Zomora swept Harrison 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 match. At No. 5, Stanojcic won 7-3, 6-7 over Smolinakova and Kalyanasundram defeated A. Enica 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6.

Murier dropped the No. 2 match 6-4, 6-4 to Sanjana Kapur and Harrison fell 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 to Cordera.

The Lady Colonels will travel to Hammond Thursday for SLC action vs. Southeastern Louisiana. Match time is set for 2 p.m.
