MEN'S GOLF EARNS 11TH PLACE FINISH

BRASELTON, GA - After finishing tied for 32nd place by shooting a 157 during the 36-hole first round, junior Marty Reed moved up 14 spots by firing a final round of one-over par 72 to finish the 56-hole Larry Nelson Collegiate Invitational tied for 18th place with a 229 (76-81-72).

The Colonels, who entered the final round in 12th place, gained one spot to finish the 54-hole event in 11th place by finishing with a 938 (319-309-310).

The Larry Nelson Collegiate Invitational is held at par 71, 6,735 yard Chateau Resort on the Woodlands Course.

Other Colonel golfers included junior James Terrebonne (T22 - 85-75-71=231, sophomore Ebenhaezer Van der Walt (T41 - 78-75-84=237), sophomore Robbie Ocmond (T59 - 86-78-83=247) and freshman Parham Booker (T61 - 80-82-86=248).

Tournament host Kennesaw State held onto the lead to run away with the team title by 22 strokes by shooting an 878 (296-285-297).

Andrew An of Mercer University, Gideon Pienaar of Central Arkansas and Chris Wolfe of Armstrong Atlantic each finished the 54-hole event with a two-over par 215, but Wolfe took home the individual medalist honors by winning on the second playoff hole.

The Colonels will take a two-week break before closing out their season at the Southland Conference Championship on April 13-16 in Lake Charles, La., held at Gray Plantation.
