Central Arkansas broke a 7-7 stalemate with an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning to claim an 8-7 extra-inning victory over Nicholls Friday night at UCA Field.
The Colonels fall to 6-27 (2-11 SLC), scoring seven runs on 12 hits and two errors, while the Bears improve to 15-19 (4-9 SLC) on the season on eight runs off of 11 hits and two errors.
Reece Cross picked up the win for Central Arkansas, improving to 2-2 after pitching 0.2 innings of relief.
For Nicholls, Dale Dickerson drops to 0-3, giving up two hits and one run through two thirds of an inning.
The Colonels gave up five runs in the Central Arkansas half of the first but worked their way back, scoring three runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth.
In the fourth, Keith Kulbeth and Brandt Boudreaux posted back-to-back basehits and scored when Anthony Wray and Patrick Thompson drove back-to-back two-out RBI doubles through.
Nicholls took advantage of four hits and a Central Arkansas error to put three more runs on the board.
The Colonels loaded the bases in the top half of the 11th but were unable to produce a run.
Wray was 2-for-5 on the night, driving in two RBI and scoring a run. Walter Jones, Brett Cook and Zac Bone all recorded two-hit games for the Colonels.
Colonel starter Jake Parrish lasted 4.1 innings, surrenduring six runs (one earned) on seven hits.
Out of the bullpen, Ryan Harding, Lance Guidroz and Calip Jenkins combined for 4.2 innings of two hit relief, giving up just one run and striking out five.
