NEW ORLEANS, La. - Keith Kulbeth went 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored to help lead the Colonels to an 8-4 victory over Loyola Wednesday night at Segnette Field.

Nicholls had five players with multi-hit games as Colonel batters combined for 15 hits on the night. Patrick Thompson, T.J. Menerey, Anthony Wray and Anthony Marino joined Kulbeth with multiple hits on the night.

Dale Dickerson picked up his first win of the season, scattering five Loyola hits through six innings. The righty fanned a season-high six batters and issued just three walks as he improves to 1-3 on the season.

"It feels good to win a ball game," said Colonel skipper Chip Durham. "Dickerson went out and threw a great game for us, limiting his walks and throwing strikes."

Through the middle innings, Dickerson retired 11-straight batters, fanning three in a row in the fifth and sixth.

With the game knotted at one through three innings, Kulbeth singled through the left side and scored two batters later when Zac Bone reached base on an error by the Wolfpack first baseman.

Nicholls added insurance runs in the fifth off the bat of Thompson who reached on an RBI bunt single that plated Walter Jones from third and back-to-back doubles from Brett Hoeflich and Kulbeth for a 4-1 lead.

The Colonels continued to produce in the sixth, loading the bases on three-straight singles before Thompson drove an RBI single to center field to make it a 5-1 ballgame.

Loyola got a run back in the seventh when Kevin Fontenot drew a lead-off walk and scored, but with two in the seventh and another in the eighth, the Colonels took an 8-2 advantage.

Menerey was 2-for-3 at the plate, crossing the plate twice and driving in a run. Thompson, who was 2-for-4 on the night, had two RBI and a run scored.

"We swung the bats tonight and scored some runs," added Durham. "This is a big win for our club so hopefully we can use this momentum to get something going for this weekend."

The Colonels return to Didier Field this weekend for a three-game Southland Conference series with Stephen F. Austin. Friday night's first pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
