The Lady Colonel tennis squad fell 4-1 at McNeese State on Saturday and 7-0 at Lamar on Sunday, but won 4-3 over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Monday afternoon to improve to 12-7 on the season.
On Saturday, Nicholls picked up a point with a victory by Sanja Stanojcic at No. 4 singles over Rocio Frausto 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.
In the No. 2 match, Natalia Zomora fell 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 to Natascha Jongeneel. Sumana Kalyanasundram dropped the No. 5 match 6-2, 6-4 while Nicole September lost 6-4, 0-6, 7-5 at No. 6.
The Nos. 1 and 3 singles matches were unfinished.
The doubles point went to McNeese as Anne-Claire Murier/Stanojcic claimed an 8-6 No. 2 victory over Frausto/Petra Gudelj, but the Colonels dropped the Nos. 1 and 3 doubles matches.
The Lady Colonels were swept on Sunday vs. Lamar.
Nicholsl dropped the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles matches and did not play No. 3 due to injury. At No. 1, Nosca/Kalyanasundram fell 8-0 and Stanojcic/Murier lost 8-2 at No. 2.
In singles action, Nosca fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1. Murier dropped the No. 2 match 6-4, 6-4, with Stanojcic falling 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3. In the No. 4 match, Kalyanasundram lost 6-0, 6-0.
But the Lady Colonels rebounded on Monday, claiming a 4-3 victory over the Islanders in a match that lasted over six hours.
Nicholls captured the doubles point, winning two of three. At No. 2, Stanojcic/Murier defeated Erika Iriarte/Alexandra Dyckman 8-6 and Natalia Zomora/Kalyanasundram won 8-3 over Alexandra Valarezo/Jessica Gonzalez at No. 3. In the No. 1 match, Nosca/September fell 8-6 to Nina Ciric/Megan Harless.
Nosca dropped the No. 1 singles match 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 to Ciric, but Murier defeated Iriarte 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 in the No. 2 slot.
At No. 3, Zomora won 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 over Dyckman. In the No. 4 match, Stanojcic fell 6-0, 1-6, 7-6 (5) to Harless, and Kalyanasundram lost 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to Valarezzo at No. 5. September defeated Gonzalez 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6.
The women will return to action this weekend at Texas State and at Texas-Arlington.
