The Roadrunners outlasted Nicholls 5-2 Sunday afternoon in the final contest of a three-game series.
Nicholls falls to 9-42 (4-23 SLC), while UTSA clinches the regular season Southland Conference Championship with the win, improving to 37-14 (21-6 SLC).
Justin Breaux drops to 2-6 on the season after giving up three runs (two earned) through three innings of relief work.
Colonel starter John Beauchamp went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits. He fanned one and issued three walks.
Roadrunner pitchers scattered eight Colonel hits through nine innings.
With the game knotted at two, Texas-San Antonio led off the bottom of the sixth inning with back-to-back-to-back basehits, plating two runs for a 4-2 advantage.
The Roadrunners added an insurance run in the eighth, taking advantage of a Nicholls error to make it a 5-2 game.
Nicholls scored two of their own in the top half of the sixth as Jordy Toups doubled to left center, bringing Kevin Persick, who had reached on an infield single. Toups later came in to score on an RBI single by Zac Bone.
Toups finished the day with a 1-for-4 performance at the plate, while Walter Jones went 2-for-4, the only Colonel with a multi-hit game.
Brett Cook went 1-for-2 on the day, picking up two base-on-balls.
The Colonels will wrap up the 2008 season at Ray E. Didier Field, hosting Southeastern Louisiana in the final series of the season. The first game of the series will take place on Thursday.
