SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Roadrunners posted eight runs in the third to take a lead they would not relinquish, defeating Nicholls 13-10 in game one of a three-game series Friday night at Roadrunner Field.

The Colonels fall to 9-40 (4-21 SLC) on the year, while league-leader UTSA improves to 35-14 (19-6 SLC)

Nicholls jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two and a half, plating runs on a bases-clearing double by Jordy Toups in the second. The next batter, Walter Jones, singled through the left side bringing Toups in to score.

But UTSA put up eight in the bottom half of the third, taking advantage of two Colonel errors and driving three extra-basehits to the gaps.

The Colonels mounted a comeback in the seventh, scoring four runs on four singles and four base-on-balls. Toups added his fourth RBI of the night, singling through the left side with the bases loaded.

Toups finished the night with two hits and four RBI and a run scored.

Anthony Wray went 3-for-4 on the night, scoring three runs. He blasted his third homerun of the season, a solo shot over the wall in left-center field in the eighth.

Jones also posted two hits on the night, singling in the first and walking twice.

Colonel starter Jake Parrish falls to 1-5 with the loss, giving up 11 runs (nine earned) on 11 hits. He walked four and fanned three in five innings of work. Jacob Sullivan threw 3.0 innings of two-hit, two-run relief.

Texas-San Antonio starter Proudfoot improves to 7-2 on the season with 3.2 innings of relief work for the Roadrunners. He gave up four runs (all earned) on five hits, but struck out four. Calhoon picked up the save, his 11th of the season.
