THIBODAUX, La. - Head coach Jay Thomas announced the addition of four transfers to the 2008 squad with University of Kentucky transfer Jordan Nevels and Rainy River CC transfer Antonio Robinson highlighting the class.

Also transferring in from junior college is junior defensive tackle Henry Perez and freshman Damon Wicker from Southern University. Wicker was never on the football team at Southern, but was a standout prep athlete at Baker High.

"We are very excited to have all of these guys on board with us. They are truly great additions to our team with not only their talent, but with their character as well," said head coach Jay Thomas.

Nevels, a free safety, comes to Nicholls via Kentucky where he served as a squad man for the Wildcats. During his prep career, he was twice named an all-state performer and was dubbed with the honor of being named the Northern Kentucky Area Defensive Player of the Year and District Defensive Player of the Year his senior campaign.

Robinson, a wide receiver, attended Rainy River CC, which is the same junior college that current Colonel Chris Bunch hails from. The Miami, Fla. native rung up a total of 993 yards and seven touchdowns during his two years tenure with the school, and was named a second team junior college All-American his sophomore campaign.

Perez, a defensive tackle, transferred to Nicholls from Yuba College in Marysville, Calif. this summer. The 5-11 285 lb junior racked up a total of 93 tackles and 10 sacks in his two-year career with 49ers before signing with Nicholls.

Wicker, a quarterback, was enrolled at Southern University last academic year, but did not participate in football. The Baker, La. native was a standout high school quarterback at Baker High.
