FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Wrapping up play in the Razorback Invitational, the Colonel soccer team fell 7-0 to tournament host Arkansas Sunday afternoon at Razorback Field.

Nicholls drops to 2-6 on the season, while Arkansas improves to 7-1.

"We played a very good Arkansas team today," said head coach Cindy Piper. "Any time you play an SEC team, you know it is going to be a tough, physical game."

Nicholls had two shots on goal in the outing as junior Tara Walsh (Keithville, La./Caddo Magnet) and freshman Katie Peterson (Cypress, Texas/Cypress Springs) each lined shots up between the posts in the second half.

Freshman keeper Sarah Damen (Houma, La./Terrebonne) spend all 90 minutes in goal for the Colonels, making five saves and allowing all seven Razorback goals.

Arkansas starter Kat Moffett put two in the back of the net in the first half, helping the Razorbacks to a 3-0 lead at the halftime break.

"Even though the score doesn't show it, we did some things much better today than in previous games," Piper added. "Our team needs to focus on having pride in the team and on not giving up. Wendesday will be a good test for us prior to opening up conference play in October."

The Colonels will take the pitch for their first home match of the 2008 season on Wednesday, welcoming Centenary to the Nicholls Soccer Complex. Kick off is slated for 4 p.m.
