Final Stats

CONWAY, Ark. - Nicholls Women's Tennis opened up the 2009 season with a bang, as they defeated Central Arkansas 6-1 on Friday afternoon.

The Colonels (1-0, 1-0) dominated singles action, winning all but one singles match. Florina Nosca, Natalia Zamora, Sanja Stanojcic and Cisca Wouters all emerged victorious in their singles competitions. Wouters was playing on the collegiate level for the first time, and fought back to win, 0-6, 6-3, 6-3.

The Bears (0-1, 0-1) claimed one singles and one doubles match as Allison Hartman defeated Nicole September 6-1, 6-3. Central Arkansas' Rebecca Miller/Lisa Mainz claimed the No.1 doubles match, defeating the Colonels duo of Nosca/Stanojcic, 8-5.

Nicholls will resume action on Saturday January 31 when they host NAIA power Xavier at the Colonel Tennis Complex.
