THIBODAUX, La. - Nicholls held the Southland Conference's third leading scorer, Kristy Carlin (15.2 ppg), to single digits, but Southeastern La. adjusted and put three players in double figures to win 85-46 in Stopher on Saturday afternoon.

Nicholls (0-18, 0-7) led 14-12 midway through the first half, but Southeastern La. (12-8, 4-3) went on a 27-7 run to close out the half on top 39-21. Leading all scorers at halftime was senior Tiffany Jones with eight points. Jones only played six minutes in the first period, and was limited in participation in the second half due to foul trouble.

The Lions picked up in the second stanza right where they left off in the first, outscoring the Colonels 21-8 over the first nine minutes to lead 60-31. Southeastern La. built its lead to as many as 41 points (83-42 with 2:13 left) in part to a stellar second half that saw the Lions shoot 51.5 percent (17-of-33) from the floor and 50 percent (5-of-10) from downtown.

The Colonels had one player in double digits in the loss as senior Christie Bryant did the honor with 14. Bryant also had a team-high six rebounds.

As a team, Nicholls shot 36.7 percent (18-of-49) from the floor and failed to connect from 3-point range (0-7) for the game.

Nicholls will be back in action against Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday in Nacogdoches, Texas. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
