CONWAY, Ark. - The 2009 road schedule finale did not go as the Nicholls State University women's soccer team (4-13-1, 0-6-1 Southland Conference) fell to the Central Arkansas Bears (7-9-1, 1-6-0 Southland) by a score of 5-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore defender Keisha Brown totaled six of the Colonels nine shots, but the Bears' defense forced all but two of those shots off target. UCA goalkeeper Kirby Huffstickler saved the other two for the shutout.
Meanwhile, the Bears offense built and maintained momentum throughout the contest. Julie Foerster started the scoring by finding the back of the net on an untouched corner kick in the 31st minute. UCA went on to get a pair of goals from Randi Condley and one each from Cory Kaplinger and Melissa Reidel en route to the 5-0 win.
The Colonels will now return home to wrap up the 2009 season at home. Nicholls will host Lamar on Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. before concluding the schedule against McNeese State on Nov. 1.
