Lady Tigers Defeat Colonels on Tuesday Night

GRAMBLING, La. - The Nicholls State University women's basketball team fell 73-49 to Grambling on Tuesday night in the Hobdy Arena.

The Colonels (1-4) were led by junior guard Ricshanda Bickham with 24 points in the defeat, matching her personal best point total. Bickham, who played the whole 40 minutes, also tallied six steals and three rebounds.

The only other Colonel in double figures was true freshman post player Alisha Allen with 15 points in the loss.

The Lady Tigers (3-2) had only two players in double-digits, being led by Whitney Brown with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Grambling held a 42-32 advantage at halftime, but it was the second half that did Nicholls in as they were out-scored 31-17. The Colonels did commit fewer turnovers in the game, having only 17 to the Lady Tigers 22; however, Gambling was spot on from the floor as they shot 48.1 percent (25-of-52). Nicholls was 32.8 percent (19-of-58) from field goal range in the loss.

Nicholls will return to their home floor this weekend when they host South Alabama on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Stopher Gym.
