DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -
Nicholls held a 34-29 halftime lead, but it would not be enough to stop a Bethune-Cookman second half surge on Monday night at Moore Gymnasium as the Lady Wildcats won 83-69.
The Colonels (2-7) had three players in double figures in the game with true freshman Alisha Allen leading the way with a career high 28 points. Allen was also a rebound shy of a double-double, leading the squad with nine.
Nicholls' other players reaching double-digits were junior Jamia Akins with 15, while sophomore Jasmine Hoskins tapped out with 12.
The Lady Wildcats (3-6) had four of their five starters cross the 10-point plateau with Demetria Frank leading all with 21 points. Bethune-Cookman's Euneshia Proctor also turned in a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Nicholls led at halftime, 34-29, shooting a season's best 45.5 percent (15-of-33) in the first period; however, the Colonels could not keep up with Bethune-Cookman in the second half as the Lady Wildcats were 63.6 percent (21-of-33) en route to winning the game.
The Colonels will return to the friendly confines of Stopher Gym on Thursday to play host to the Lady Jaguars of Southern University. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
